On a white bap with Tommy C, mmm, outstanding!New Fleece Lined Chukka Boot Vans.
New for this season, like your regular Vans chukka boot, but fully fleeced lined! It's like you are constantly walking on carpet. Reminiscent of your Grand Dad's zip up house slippers.Roots & Soul - Tower House on Street Bwoyz Pro.
Although 17 years old, this bad ass slice of hip-house/breakbeat sounds fresh as a fresh thing. Complete with a news at 10 intro and Shabba Ranks in tearing up Tower Records, just watch the whistling!Le Crunch.
The new continental dance craze / exercise workout that is sweeping the city and is a perfect antidote to the crashing shares and tumbling stocks on the dancefloor.Old Rosie Cider.
This mentalist psychedelic west country cider is quite hard to find, but seek this puppy out. Great on tap, even better in bottles, shake to wake the demons!
Ket Lost by Damian Lazarus
It had been a strange summer; everywhere I looked, people were doing ketamine. As terrifying as this drug can sometimes be, there was something about the Summer of 2005 batch that caught people's imagination. Obviously not a drug user myself, I felt compelled to investigate why there was a change in the atmosphere at clubs and parties that I was djing at. There seemed to be something about the way I played records that struck a weird chord with the party people in places as diverse as Ibiza, Denver and Leeds. And so, a few days before my birthday in September, I was at home, contemplating the future of dance music (as I often do in my spare time), and I decided I would attempt to soundtrack this connection between odd, strange music and this scary powdery stuff that made people extricate their heads from their bodies, sending them on a trip down the ladder, straight to the primal fear (or joy, it seemed).
I called this home-made mix, Ket Lost. I travelled to Ibiza that Monday morning and played one of my all time favourite sessions at DC10, and after Cocoon the following morning, a few friends gathered at a villa where I slipped this mix on, and would you believe, it really worked! Funny that!
Normally, the dj telling the story of how good his mix is would end right there, but there's more. I left the cd at the villa that morning (night? or the following morning maybe?) and by the time I returned to DC10 a few weeks later for the closing party, it appeared the mix had been leaked out all over the island, and for the next few months, whilst travelling around the world, lovely people kept coming up to me, all excited, giving me the thumbs-up and a wink, saying 'Ket Lost... nice one!' I love the music on this mix, I wanted to expand on this idea but I couldn't call a compilation series Ket Lost could I? So I changed the K to a G and Get Lost was born.
I hope you enjoy it. Damian x
